Ode to the Mainframe

###

In halls of steel where data hums,
A titan stands, where progress drums.
Silent sentinel, vast and grand,
Guarding bytes with steadfast hand.

Through decades past, through years ahead,
Mainframes churn where others fled.
Banking ledgers, patient charts,
Flow through circuits, beating hearts.

Mountains of numbers, rivers of code,
Yet never falters, bears the load.
While modern minds chase fleeting trends,
The mainframe’s reign still knows no end.

Through JCL's command it speaks,
A language old, yet far from weak.
Batch jobs march in steady streams,
Processing futures, shaping dreams.

So here’s to thee, machine untold,
A fortress built on iron and gold.
While whispers claim your time is through,
The world still runs because of you.

Long live the mainframe!
